Stihl - Lighteight Design Chainsaws Dean Caporella
___________________________________________________________________
There's no doubt that chainsaws are becoming lighter today and chainsaw users are reaping the benefits with better and easier to handle machines. As far as manufacturers are concerned, Stihl is still the industry trendsetter and are setting some lofty standards in the woodcutting world.
Technology has encroached significantly in all areas of industry and one has to marvel at the evolvement of chainsaws during the last decade. Stihl seem to have the ability to predict a chainsaw users wish list and develop their machines almost on cue. As far as the lightweight models are concerned, woodcutters are appreciating the lightweight design of todays machines. If you are working around a mid sized budget, there are several impressive chainsaws worth considering from manufacturers including Stihl's MS230 and MS 230 C-BE Easy2Start models. These models are very useful when it comes to mid sized jobs. As a chainsaw user, safety is a major component. I am impressed with the easy start action and there is no compromise in power. Stihl has incorporated the quick chain adjuster feature which means adjusting chain tension via tools is a thing of the past. Versatility is a requirement chainsaw users look for today. There is nothing worse than being faced with a tough job and you lack the power machinery to complete it. This can lead to safety issues if a woodcutter decides to tackle it without the appropriate machine. These lightweight machines pack plenty of power for their size and generally, are able to cut through small size trees, firewood and runaway brush with relative ease. One complaint I hear continually amongst chainsaw users is that the weight of chainsaws can sometimes cut productive cutting time down to a minimum. Tiredness is something that can creep into the scenario and is one of the safety aspects a chainsaw user should take particular note of. I'm amazed at the technology that chainsaw manufacturers are able to include today as machines become less and less cumbersome. Just as an example, Stihl's lightest chainsaw, the MS 192T is an impressive 26% lighter than it's predecessor. The introduction of lightweight chainsaws across the board means that operators now have more flexibility when it comes to the tougher pruning jobs. Again, the lightweight design of today's chainsaws are playing a major part in cutting down the danger aspect to users. The fact they can be controlled more effectively means there is less chance of any sudden vibration causing the user to lose control. Stihl, along with their competitors certainly don't rest on their laurels when it comes to refining and improving the performance, handling and safety aspects of chainsaws. Despite their benefits they are still a dangerous piece of equipment, so any refinement in their handling capacity is a bonus for woodcutters. | ||||||||||||||
